This method is used to reduce scarring, disfigurement and improve appearance. Plastic surgery is a therapeutic and a cosmetic reformation of tissues. Plastic surgery has become a part of our society. Not just the rich and famous but also many people undergo some type of cosmetic plastic surgery procedure every day. In the late 19th century the American medical community embraced reconstructive surgery and the history of plastic surgery in the United States began. In fact the popularity of plastic surgery continued to grow and become more advanced during World War II.
During this time surgeons learned to perform the procedures with speed, precision and accuracy and this allowed more people than ever before to benefit from the surgery. That time the surgeons were used the grafting of tissue or the artificial materials such as silicone for remarkable restorations. Severe burns and the removal of fairly extensive skin cancers leave scars that must be covered by skin grafts; breast reconstruction after mastectomy is another application. In addition to this plastic surgery is used to restore vital movement and function of tissues that have been destroyed to correct a disfigurement. Plastic surgery is purely for cosmetic purposes, such as improving the shape of a nose, bringing outstanding ears closer to the head, or lifting the skin to erase wrinkles etc. Today the CAT scans is employed to produce computer-generated images by the modern plastic surgeons which can be used to plan or simulate complex reconstructive surgeries. With the written evidence cites the medical treatment for facial injuries in form of skin grafting has been more than 4,000 years ago. Indian Physicians were employing skin grafts for reconstructive work as early as 800 B.C. Ambroise Paré developed the art of suture, leaving records in which he describes both the instruments and the technique employed in the Renaissance. However new methods for surgery were developed, ending earlier rudimentary and painful procedures in the 19th century. The Catholic Church was strongly opposed to the advancement of science particularly remodeling the human form at that time. But when Europe was confronted with the seriously mutilated faces of soldiers in WWI in the 20th century, it was much necessary to repair them grew in form of plastic surgery. From then the plastic surgery was achieved a respectable place in the medical profession. Once again the World War II came and the plastic surgeons used their skills to help their countrymen at that time which leads the plastic surgery more in advance. In the 1950s, plastic surgery was fully integrated into the medical community. But the concept of plastic surgery grew in the consciousness of the American public as more physicians performed plastic surgery procedures with the implementation of silicon in the 1960s. But now the plastic surgeon became one of the leading medical professions in the 1970s. At the end of 1980s, plastic surgery was expanding all over the country. There thousands of board-certified plastic surgeons and the numbers continue to grow by the 1990s and even today. Now there are thousands of plastic surgeons, offering a variety of plastic surgery procedures to patients not just in the United States, but all over the world. For almost all Americans Plastic surgery has become affordable but in earlier it once was just for the very rich only. Plastic surgery has truly come a long way and continues to make advancements in the complexity of procedures performed today.
